Are uniforms required?
Yes. All students must wear SKY Academy uniforms daily, including during PE classes. Approved uniforms are available for purchase at both school locations. For complete dress code requirements, please see our school handbook.
Does it matter where I live if I can attend SKY Academy?
No. As a tuition-free, public charter middle school, SKY Academy is open to all students in the grades we serve.
Is there a cost or fee to attend SKY Academy?
No, there is no tuition required to attend either location of SKY Academy. We are a tuition-free, public charter middle school that is open to all students.
Is transportation to school available?
Yes, SKY Academy is able to provide busing to and from school for families who do not provide their own transportation. "Pocket pickup" spots are determined annually with family input.
What is a charter school?
Charter schools combine the accountability and oversight of traditional public schools with the flexibility of private schools. Charters are tuition-free, independent public schools that are freed from many state and local rules and regulations in exchange for increased financial and academic accountability. Parental involvement is strongly encouraged. Charters are open to all children - students are selected at random. They are accountable for results-based student achievement. Charter schools are not school vouchers, private schools, magnet schools or home schooling.
Why is the YMCA involved in a school?
The Y is a cause-drive organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. We believe a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.
